The Hill: White House blasts bin Laden report as inaccurate
The White House on Monday rejected a bombshell report claiming President Obama misled Americans about the 2011 operation that killed Osama bin Laden.
The controversial report alleging Obama lied about one of the most consequential decisions of his presidency roiled the White House, which said multiple times that investigative reporter Seymour Hersh got the story wrong.

But the general thrust of the piece — that the administration’s version of events leading up to and during the OBL raid was inaccurate, sugar-coated, and obscured hard truths that would have interfered with Obama’s reelection . . . well, it’s not like any of us would rush forward and say the concept is unbelievable. This is the administration of, “If you like your plan, you can keep your plan.” And “some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet.” This is the administration that called ISIS a “JV team.” And said that “Bowe Bergdahl served with honor and distinction.” Lying about really important, life-and-death matters is not unprecedented for this administration.

Moreover, if Pakistani military and intelligence officials had partnered with the U.S. in conducting the raid on bin Laden, why would the Pakistanis hold in custody for the last four years Dr. Shakil Afridi, who assisted the U.S. in trying to identify bin Laden by collecting DNA samples from his children? U.S. congressional members continue to call on the Obama administration to cut aid to Pakistan until Afridi is released from jail.
The Hersh article is a distraction from the problematic terrorism policies of Pakistan, a country which has received nearly $30 billion in U.S. economic and military aid over the last 13 years, and the Obama administration’s failure to convince Pakistan to end its dual policies on terrorism.
Just a few weeks ago, Pakistan released on bail the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.
