Remember during the 2012 US Senate race here in Montana? (The Saudi Arabia of coal) Senator Jon Tester’s (D-MT) allies kept asking, “what war on coal?”
Well, as President Obama was readying his major climate change speech this week, here’s what his climate advisor had to say: (from The Weekly Standard, h/t DrudgeReport)
“Everybody is waiting for action,” Schrag tells the paper. “The one thing the president really needs to do now is to begin the process of shutting down the conventional coal plants. Politically, the White House is hesitant to say they’re having a war on coal. On the other hand, a war on coal is exactly what’s needed.”
Back to Sen. Tester- his office sent out this statement Tuesday afternoon praising the president’s climate change policy announcement:
“As a farmer, I’ve seen firsthand the effects of climate change. In the last three years alone, we’ve seen extreme flood, drought and wildfire wreak havoc across Montana. It is clear that we must address climate change. I’m glad the President is kicking off this discussion and I look forward to more details.
“Investing in clean energy, tapping into our renewable resources, and promoting energy efficiency are smart, common-sense proposals that – combined with responsible development of traditional fuels – will create jobs and strengthen our economy.”
Too much rain, too little rain…it’s all the fault of global warming…er- climate change. You get the picture from a coal state senator.
Congressman Steve Daines obviously isn’t pleased. Here’s more via Twitter:
You get the feeling we found out today why Sen Max Baucus, who represents a major coal producing state, decided not to run next year? #mtsen

Where does Brian Schweitzer stand on Obama’s “war on coal?” Where does Schweitzer stand on Obama’s job-killing energy tax? #mtsen #mtpol

Perhaps if Senator Tester plans to address climate change he should speak with the Creator of the Universe who set everything in motion.
The planet on which we live has alternated between warmer and colder periods for eons. Lucky for us we are currently living during a warm period of the cycle which allows for abundant agriculture needed to feed the world population. This warming period will continue until the next ice age begins.
If you think farming is tough now Senator, try plowing a glacier!
Man has little to do with this normal cycle the earth experiences. One might compare trying to affect any change to this cycle to turning back the ocean’s tide.
It’s my contention debate on the so called “Climate Change” is fomented by those who will profit from its continuation. This group includes the Al Gore’s of the world who desperately promote unprofitable Green Energy schemes which must supported by the government using taxpayers money. I also include those scientists whose grant monies depend on research into this phony problem for which there is no viable solution.
President Obama and Senator Tester’s foolish plans will only serve to hurt America’s productivity.
I suggest mankind learns to cope and “suck it up” while waiting for cooler times to commence.

C’mon Sen Tester, pretend you’re growing a pair and represent your home state as you were elected to do.
