Democratic US Senate candidate Amanda Curtis (D-Butte) is getting some national attention after she froze up on the air in the midst of what seems like a rehearsed campaign statement.

Newly minted Senate candidate Amanda Curtis, who replaced plagiarism-plagued Sen. John Walsh, D-Mont., appeared to lock-up during a live interview on local news channel KBZK. Curtis, who has come under scrutiny for her ties to a socialist organization and radical views from video series she posted as a state senator, fell strangely silent as she tried to describe her campaign strategy. The awkward moment was just the latest blow to Montana Democrats as polling shows the belatedly-chosen Curtis lagging far behind Republican candidate Steve Daines

Montana: Democratic hopes of holding onto this seat faded even further this month after Sen. John Walsh dropped out of the race following a plagiarism scandal. His replacement, 34-year-old math teacher Amanda Curtis, is relatively unknown and has taken few public stances on energy and environmental issues. However, she did select environmental lobbyist Clayton Elliott as her campaign manager, praising his grassroots work in Montana. Meanwhile, Republican Rep. Steve Daines – who according to the only poll so far to include Curtis enjoys a 20-point lead – has used his recess to campaign around the state and bash the Obama administration over Keystone XL and EPA’s proposed climate regulations.
I also posted a story yesterday where CNN noted that Curtis is refusing to answer questions on some of the key issues facing Congress. That lead me to an earlier story which also begs the question- what does Curtis really think about the situation in Ferguson, MO? This question is particularly relevant after she donned a hoodie in honor of Trayvon Martin during one of her epic YouTube rants.

“Anyone who wants to can go to YouTube and see every single video for themselves,” Curtis told ABC News in a phone interview this week.
But she appears to be learning from the experience. When asked for her thoughts on the shooting of African-American teen Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, by a police officer, Curtis said she’s “not ready to talk about that,” only adding that she “absolutely” had feelings on the killing.

I find this whole Curtis thing extremely disturbing. Not from the stand point of her candidacy representing the democrat party….. To hell with them.
What disturbs me is the representation of our school system she has provided. Also the endorsement by the school teachers union of her candidacy is very telling about that organization. Are we to believe that the entire educational system in Montana is that corrupt in their beliefs and teaching of our young?
I have known a great many fine teachers in my lifetime. Only a few bums. Given my experience, why are those fine teachers silent about this person and her absolutely anti-American leanings?
The fine, honorable teachers of this state must speak out against the union, its depiction of our teachers and school system and the oddballs (Curtis and Feaver) who are its public face.
