Daines Picks Up Energy, Commerce, Approps, Indian Affairs

Senator-elect Steve Daines (R-MT) picked up some influential new committee assignments for the Treasure State.  It looks like Daines will pick up a seat on the US Senate’s Energy, Commerce, Appropriations, and Indian Affairs committees. 

Interesting side note:  According to my copy of National Journal’s 2004 Almanac of American Politics, those are the exact same committee assignments held by former Sen. Conrad Burns (R-MT)- with the addition of the Indian Affairs Committee for Daines.

Republican leadership awarded four incoming Senate freshman with plum spots on the powerful Appropriations Committee: Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, James Lankford of Oklahoma and Steve Daines of Montana.

After all of the items stuffed into the CRomnibus, could we be eyeing a return to “earmarks?”  

The Hill: Cassidy, Gardner appointed to Senate Energy Committee

Senate Republicans appointed Sens.-elect Bill Cassidy (La.), Cory Gardner (Colo.), Steve Daines (Mont.), and Shelley Moore Capito (W.Va.) to the Senate Energy Committee on Monday.

New Democrats on the Senate Energy Committee include Sens. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Angus King (I-Maine), and Mazie Hirono (Hawaii).

Roll Call: Changes in Store for Republican Rosters of Senate Commerce and Judiciary Panels

The Senate Commerce panel’s Republican roster will add Jerry Moran of Kansas as well as the following new senators: Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Cory Gardner of Colorado and Steve Daines of Montana.

Daines will also have a seat on the Indian Affairs Committee, according to TheMinorityReportBlog.com.
