Dems Blame Cold Weather, No Farm Bill This Year

Print View

According to The Hill, senior Democrats on House and Senate Ag Committees are now blaming the weather, saying they will not be able to complete the Farm Bill this year.  This news comes even after Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) predicted at the Montana Grain Growers Convention last week that a Farm Bill would be complete by mid-December.

Here’s the story, from The Hill:

House and Senate negotiators announced Tuesday there would not be a farm bill by the end of 2013.

“We got a problem,” Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) said. “We thought we were going to have a CBO score Monday morning. Turns out, there’s two guys that do [these scores]. One of them has his work done, the other went to a wedding in northern New Jersey over the weekend and got stuck, and is still not back.”

“The person doing the scoring is stuck in another state … we are literally waiting on scores right now that affects our timing,” said Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.).

Stuck in New Jersey? Maybe the staffer is working on the narrative for a new Hangover movie.  Hmmm…I travelled to Great Falls, Montana and back from Billings and somehow was still able to get the job done. And we don’t even have the busses, trains, and airplanes that travel in between the two.

According to Mapquest.com:

224.55 miles from Hoboken, NJ to Washington, DC

219.20 miles from Billings, MT to Great Falls, MT

The farm bill needs to be split into two. One for farm stuff. One for food stamps. They can call it SNAPS or CRAPS or whatever they want, it’s still food stamps, another one of welfare programs. Let’s start calling things what they are. Then, like you say at the start of your program, we can have an HONEST debate. Of course, Democrats often have a problem with honest approaches to problems.

AND, we need to make sure that any “new farm bill” doesn’t pay one cent of “support” or “equalizations” to anyone living inside CHICAGO, IL… Like the leader of Islam himself!..’ol Louis F.

This Fed Govt leaks money…OUR MONEY, all over the place; and, then says there is no fraud or other problems!..

Plug the leaks or PULL THE PLUG!

Well, from a farmer’s standpoint…….. It is obvious you two don’t know a lot about the farm bill. Barely 7% of the expenditure goes to actual farming operations. 85% for welfare and the rest to run the Forest Service and other similar programs.

Without tying welfare to the farm program, there would be no farm program. Not that I’m saying that no farm program is a bad thing, it is just the political reality of the situation. By the way, I haven’t participated in the farm program for many years. The only part that interests me is the crop insurance subsidy. Without it, we would not be able to afford insurance. Without insurance most farmers would not be able to secure a bank loan to continue farming.

Jon Tester is a jerk. He is the worst type of political hack because he cares not about the results of his liberal voting record, only that his support for the liberal/progressive/socialist agenda is complete. If he sees the reality of the situation in this country today and refuses to do anything about it, he is heartless and cruel. If he is so blinded by his position and the Democratic Party agenda to not see what is happening, he is stupid……

Just watch the Montana Grain Growers give him and Baucus another “award” for exemplary service!
