WSJ: Schweitzer’s Oval Office Ambitions

When former Montana governor Brian Schweitzer announced in July that he wasn’t running for Senate next year, he told the Associated Press, “I love Montana. I want to be here.” Now Mr. Schweitzer, who became a businessman after leaving office, is indicating that he’d like go to Washington after all, just not as a senator.

Asked over the weekend if he was running for president in 2016, the colorful Democrat told MSNBC, “Well, I’ll just say that there’s around 100 counties in Iowa. You know, on my bucket list is to try and make it to all the counties of Iowa someday.”

Mr. Schweitzer’s latest White House intimations follow remarks he made to Real Clear Politics last month. “The people of Iowa are a whole lot like the people of Montana. And, of course, New Hampshire’s a lot like Montana.
