The headline from The Duffel Blog says it all: Army Corps of Engineers Cap Off ‘Old Faithful’ During Government Shutdown

Ok, this is satire, but given the shenanigans witnessed by the way the Obama Administration has implemented this shutdown- would it surprise you if someone in the federal government did try to cap off Old Faithful?

Excerpt from Duffel Blog piece:

Timmy Goodman, spokesman for Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) was able to provide an explanation.

“Each day it costs the U.S. government upwards of $200,000  to heat, pump, pressurize, and discharge the water used to make Old Faithful to do its thing, whatever that is.” When it was explained that Old Faithful is a naturally occurring geyser, Goodman yelled “Roe v. Wade!” and ran away.

And what about Mount Rushmore:

Arthur Eldred, an Eagle Scout, was appalled when greeted with a gigantic shroud instead of the familiar faces of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln.

Of course it wouldn’t surprise you if the above were attempted.  Especially when you read that Big Sky Honor Flight bus drivers carrying World War II Veterans from Montana were threatened with arrest in Washington, DC:

From Cindy Uken:

Bus drivers carrying Montana veterans to visit memorials on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Monday were threatened with arrest for crossing police barricades.

Veterans who wanted to visit the memorial had to make the long walk on their own, a difficult task for many.

One defiant veteran in a wheelchair, Charles Schweiger, held a souvenir piece of the yellow “Do Not Cross” tape that police had put up to block the memorial.

Meanwhile, as The Blaze reports, a liberal radio host is calling the veterans who protested the closure of the memorials “dumb.”

Left-wing radio host Bill Press on Monday ripped participants in this weekend’s “Million Vet March,” along with their Republican leaders, particularly Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

“Absolutely drives me crazy,” Press said regarding Sunday’s protest activities. “The dumbest ones there are the idiots who were protesting … they call them ‘vets.’ I wonder how many were really veterans. I don’t care if they were veterans, they don’t know what they hell they were doing.”

My take:  it doesn’t matter who you want to blame for the shutdown.  The open-air memorials weren’t blocked off during previous shutdowns, so why is the Obama Administration doing it now?

For what seems like forever, WE as a society have bent over backwards to allow “Free Speech”. While it is our/everyone’s First Amendment right, it would seem to allow “free speech” which is vile, distorted and outright lies to continue on for years, unabated……. Is insane! For this continuing hateful speech DOES influence weak minds and sadly, weak minds seem to be the voting majority.

At what point do WE as a society stand up to LOUDLY speak out against lies and distortion? Are WE as a society really obligated to allow this to continue?
