If you’ve got a couple of minutes to spare, here’s a great video highlighting the work of Patrick Cross as he traps fox in the Beartooth Mountains.  Cross is with the Yellowstone Ecological Research Center and The University of Montana.

A videographer spent a couple days as Pat’s research assistant;
snow-tracking, trapping, using radio telemetry, and shooting photos.  Here’s a link to the blog post that was sent to me from a friend in Big Timber.

Other items of interest on the web this week- our news man Brian Bennett let me know about a CBS Sunday Morning feature on Huey Lewis from his ranch in Montana.

In Montana’s Bitterroot Valley, not only does a river run through it, when the fly fisherman is Huey Lewis, a rhythm runs through it.

Now 62, he spends as much time as he can on his ranch in Montana. “In the early ’80s when we finally had a little bit of success and I had a couple nickels to rub together, the first thing I wanted to do was to buy a place up here. And that’s what we did.”

Part of his 500 acres is a working ranch with crops and cattle. Part of it is kept as wild land.
