You may have caught my earlier post regarding Florida Governor Rick Scott’s trip to Montana.  Democrats criticized Scott for making a trip to the Big Sky state after launching an ad campaign encouraging people to visit Florida.

Just where in Montana did the Governor go?  The Miami Herald blog has the details on the Governor’s new digs:

The new 60.6-acre property near Troy, Mon. he bought on June 22. Tucked into the Kootenai National Forest, it’s just a couple miles down the Kootenai River from the Big Sky property of his new chief of staff, Steve MacNamara.

The property has a gorgeous 3,680-square foot log home built into the rock outcropping of a cliff, which delivers a bird’s-eye view of the winding river to the west and the majestic Cabinet Mountains to the east. There is a bubbling spring near the home and 3,000 feet of river frontage.

The Herald added that Scott is believed to have bought the Montana home for $1.45 million.

Florida Gov Rapped for Fishing in Montana

Democrats are criticizing Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) for taking a fishing trip to Montana.

Staff with The St. Petersburg Times posted this video of Scott discussing the trip:

Democrats are criticizing Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) for taking a fishing trip to Montana.

Staff with The St. Petersburg Times had this:

Democrats are blasting Gov. Rick Scott for spending his upcoming vacation in Montana instead of Florida, and using the occasion to criticize Scott for state tourism advertisements that they say amount to self-promotion.

The Times also posted this video of Scott discussing the trip:

Mike Lafferty jumped into the fray with this blog post on the OrlandoSentinel.com:

Not sure when the reporter got that quote, but what Rick Scott had to do this week was take a fishing vacation in Montana, a move that brought (surprise!) criticism from Democrats because he wasn’t vacationing in Florida. Especially after Scott appeared in a promotion video (watch it here) encouraging people to invite their friends and family to vacation in Florida. Apparently, at least to the state Democratic party, the video means Scott is no longer allowed to step foot outside of Florida for pleasure.

And, in case you missed it, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar (D) also made a trip back to the Big Sky state for a little fishing as well.

The Daily Interlake has this:

The two (Salazar and another Admin official) traveled with a small entourage to the Creston National Fish Hatchery, where they met with students from the Northwest Montana Native Youth Conservation Corps and Montana Conservation Corps.

From there, they went to Snappy Sport Senter in Evergreen, where Salazar paid $25 for a Montana fishing license.
