I am getting ready to head over to do my talk show this morning, but wanted to share this bit of breaking news this morning.  Congressman Denny Rehberg (R-MT), now chairman of a key House committee, is moving to defund Obamacare today.

Luckily the text of the amendment is only one sentence long, so the rest of Montana’s Congressional Delegation should have plenty of time to read it.

Here is the text of a prepared statement sent out by the Rehberg office

PREPARED STATEMENT

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Denny Rehberg, Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies today introduced an amendment to the Full Year Continuing Appropriations Act of 2011 to defund Obamacare.

“The House already passed legislation to repeal Obamacare, fulfilling the promise we made to the American people.  Democrats in the Senate haven’t listened.  They voted against the will of the people.  But in this country, the power is with the People.  So we’ll fight Obamacare in the courts.  We’ll fight it in the state legislatures.  We’ll fight it in the House.  We’ll defund Obamacare one piece at a time.  My amendment prevents funding from being used to implement Obamacare while we continue to work for a full legislative or judicial repeal.”

The amendment is one sentence long:

AMENDMENT TO H.R. 1 OFFERED BY MR. REHBERG OF MONTANA
(Continuing Appropriations, 2011)

At the end of the bill (before the short title), insert the following:

SEC. ______. None of the funds made available by this Act may be used for any employee, officer, contractor, or grantee of any department or agency funded by title VIII of division B of this Act to implement the provisions of Public Law 111-148 or title I or subtitle B of title II of Public Law 111–152.
