The same group that helped to wage a pro-gun control rally in Bozeman, Montana is apologizing after listing cop killers, criminals, and terrorists to their list of gun violence “victims” during a Sandy Hook massacre ceremony.
The UK Daily Mail has this:
Michael Bloomberg’s group Mayors Against Illegal Guns has sparked a firestorm after mistakenly including the name of alleged Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev on a list of victims of gun violence.
Tsarnaev‘s name was read aloud during the No More Names event held Tuesday in Concord, New Hampshire, to promote stricter gun control laws.
Attendees of the rally were outraged to hear the Tsranaev memorialized alongside actual shooting victims, with at least one participant shouting, ‘He’s a terrorist!’ according to the New Hampshire Union Leader.
When it comes to their rally in Bozeman, Montana- Mayors Against Illegal Guns spokesman Jack Warner said no names were read at the event in Bozeman last week. The group has since apologized for the reading of the names at several other rallies across the nation.
Here’s more from The Daily Caller:
Not only was the name of the Boston Marathon bomber, Tamerlan Tsarnaev memorialized at a Mayors Against Illegal Guns rally in Concord, New Hampshire this week, but so were the names of other murderers, according to the New Hampshire Republican Party.
“It is disgusting that Mayor Bloomberg’s radical out-of-state gun control group came to New Hampshire and honored so many thugs, murderers and terrorists,” NHGOP Chairman Jennifer Horn said in a statement. ”Mayor Bloomberg owes every Granite Stater a personal apology for the outrageous conduct of his extremist organization.”
According to the NHGOP, Los Angeles cop killer Christopher Dorner is included on the list of gun deaths.
Meanwhile, the National Rifle Association is out with a statement echoing a point I made via Facebook earlier today- this move brings every data set used by gun control advocates like Mayors Against Illegal Guns into question.
From The Washington Examiner:
This calls into question every statistic that Bloomberg and MAIG has used and will use to promote their cause,” said NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam. “Bloomberg has proven that he will stop at nothing, including repeating flawed statistics, in pursuit of his gun control agenda. And he’ll do this with no regard for the truth.”
A preliminary analysis of the list of shooting “victims” New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s group Mayors Against Illegal Guns is reading at rallies for new gun control laws finds that one in 12 are crime suspects killed by police or armed citizens acting in self-defense.
The review of 617 killings found that 50 were suspects in crimes ranging from assault to murder, not the type of violence Bloomberg’s group suggests in its “No More Names” campaign to draw attention to the estimated 6,000 gun death “tragedies” since the mid-December Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newton, Conn.
