The past few days on our statewide radio talk show we have been talking about the incredible work being done by firefighters all across the great state of Montana. And when we say firefighters we also mean the landowners and ranchers who have taken to the fire lines almost non-stop over the past couple of weeks, literally saving homes and livestock.
All this, as Haylie Shipp reports that 4,400 head of livestock have been displaced. There is one report of 70 head that have perished. Dick Deshamps, acting State Director for the Montana Farm Service Agency, says that is what has been reported to them thus far with the Ash Creek fire tearing through southeast Montana.
Not only are these landowners fighting these fires, with social media they are also reporting on these fires for their neighbors and the broader community here in Montana.
Below are a sample of pictures from residents impacted by the Ash Creek Fire near Ashland and Broadus.
