Secretary of State Linda McCulloch (D-MT) and her Republican challenger, former Secretary of State Brad Johnson (R-MT), laid out competing visions for the office in separate guest opinion columns.
Brad Johnson had this guest opinion column in The Billings Gazette:
With numerous incidents of voter fraud coming to light across the country, it is time to take a prudent and common sense approach to prevent it from spreading to Montana. We can no longer afford to do nothing while political activists and operatives actively try to exploit loopholes in the system in order to improperly influence the outcome of our elections. Millions of Americans have fought and died to preserve our right to vote and we, in turn, are obligated to protect the integrity of those elections.
As secretary of state, my goal is to make voting highly accessible while making cheating impossible. I will lead the fight to require voters to show government-issued photo identification at the polls on Election Day. According to a recent Washington Post survey, 74 percent of Americans support this common sense approach. This bill will be modeled after Indiana’s photo ID law, which the Supreme Court of the United States upheld in a 6-3 decision. Under this law, voters will be required to show a driver’s license, passport, military ID, tribal ID, or other form of government-issued ID as acceptable proof of identity.
Linda McCulloch had this to say in a guest opinion column in The Missoulian:
We’re all familiar with Aesop’s Fable, “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” The cautionary tale taught us that intentionally lying about something has its consequences, and that those consequences can negatively impact the people around us.
Crying wolf about the security of Montana’s elections is an intentional and deliberate attempt to decrease voter turnout by gaining support for laws that will restrict your right to vote. These false allegations of massive voter fraud have been tediously repeated despite all evidence to the contrary, and it’s time for the deceivers to start bearing the burden of proof.

I fail to see how Aesop’s fable, ‘The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf” has any relevance to assuring that voters are identified as eligible to vote. The only one lying in this process would be the ineligible person illegally participating in our countries sacred voting process. Wasn’t Linda McCulloch an educator? She was the state superintendent of schools was she not? Then she should know what a fable is. A fable is described as a “Tale”, “Myth” or a made up story. Like someone who claims to have the right to vote? I also fail to see how requiring someone who can get to or find a way to the polling place, and who have the wherewithal to cast a vote legally or illegally or who has the understanding that their one vote legally or illegally does count would be impeded from being able to identify themselves for voting purposes? You know requirements of photo ID’s does not seem to create an outcry from those, and there has to be some, who then cannot fly, buy cigarettes, alcohol, buy a lottery ticket, get into any federal building, get onto many work sites to work, have a license to drive, etc. I don’t hear the multitudes claiming they are disenfranchised from these kinds of civil liberties because of not being able to get an ID! Obviously, folks can get off their duffs enough to be identified as able to go into a bar and drink themselves mindless but they can’t seem to get their poop in group enough to get identification suitable to be able to vote. That’s pure BS. Everyone knows that there is a significant number of illegal voters whom the Democrats appeal too, so the Democrats stand in the way of voter ID laws, otherwise, I can assure you the Democrats would care less. Always remember for, the Democrats, the liberal, the Leftist or the Progressive it is the end results of their agenda that justifies the means by which they got there.

Here in Charlotte, NC, yesterday’s headline in the local paper: 30,000 DEAD people found in first check of state voter rolls. They are still determining how many of these cadavers voted in the last election.
Strange, too, how cadavers almost always vote Democrat.
