High tech Bozeman businessman, and former Lt. Gov. candidate, Steve Daines made his bid for the US Senate official Saturday morning.
Daines’ company, Right Now Technologies, has been adding hundreds of new jobs in Montana despite the economic downturn. He said he and his wife Cindy are worried about the future for their kids, 6th generation Montanans, and launched into a series of attacks on incumbent Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT).
“Jon Tester has made his choice. He stands with Obama not Montana. I too have made my choice. I stand for Montana and not Obama. It is urgent that we start to hold Jon Tester accountable to the people of Montana starting today.”

A top executive at RightNow Technologies, Daines, 48, grew up in Bozeman and graduated from Montana State University. In 2008, he ran unsuccessfully for Montana lieutenant governor.
But while his 2008 bid was against a popular Democratic administration in Helena, this run will be against a senator tagged by politico.com as one of the most vulnerable Democrats in 2012.

Daines Announces for U.S. Senate
Calls All Montanans to Help Hold Government Accountable
BOZEMAN__ Steve Daines, a 5thgeneration Montanan and Bozeman businessman, announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate Saturday, calling for a return to government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
“I’m running because I actually believe the Declaration of Independence has it right when it says our government derives its just power from the consent of the governed.
Jon Tester has turned a deaf ear to the consent of the governed and there is no better example of this than the Christmas present Jon Tester gave to Montanans last year . . . as Tester cast a deciding vote for ObamaCare.”
The Daines announcement comes on the heels of the national uprising on November 2ndin which Americans stood up and fought back against the unprecedented spending and expansion of government over the past two years. Voters in Montana did not have an opportunity to express their displeasure with the United States Senate on November 2nd. The announcement also comes two days in advance of a called “Lame Duck” session of the United States Congress that has many Montanans worried about what additional damage their Senators might do before the Senate make up changes in January.

During the past four years, Jon Tester voted for the failed $800 billion “stimulus,” cast a deciding vote for ObamaCare, and effectively allowed for the largest tax increase in history by leaving Washington to campaign for Harry Reid without voting to extend the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts.
“Jobs are created by people and small businesses, not the government. The last 26 years of my life were devoted to building private-sector businesses and creating hundreds of jobs for Montanans and Americans,” Daines told more than 200 supporters gathered at Bozeman’s Hilton Garden Inn. “I have met a payroll and know the challenges small businesses face balancing the bottom line.”
Under Jon Tester and Barack Obama, the climate for business growth and job creation has deteriorated significantly. Montana’s unemployment rate has increased from 3.4% to 7.4%, while our national debt has exploded.
“Washington needs more job creators and fewer big spenders, regardless of their political party,” Daines said.
Daines went on to say, “Our nation that was conceived in liberty and is now in servitude to big government and out of control debt. I can stay on the sidelines no longer. I admit having served thirty years in our military, the federal gov’t has expanded excessively, and both parties will have to get REAL on what they’ll cut. Will GOP in farm states CUT CRP, subsidies? I say we’re in SERVITUDE
to the BIG ‘Corporate States of America’ where corporations are now people thanks to Citizens United v. FEC. The political parties are merely ‘hand puppets’ to corporate interests, hell bent on outsourcing as many jobs
as possible, crushing unions and putting us into the ‘serf’ class.
