A recount is scheduled for this Monday at 7 a.m. in what is now historically Montana’s most expensive race for the state legislature.
For the Senate District 25 seat out of Billings, Democrat Kendall Van Dyk leads Republican Roy Brown by just 8 votes after Secretary of State Linda McCulloch certified the votes earlier this week.
According to Yellowstone County Elections Administrator Bret Rutherford, a recount will now take place Monday.
Rutherford says 101 “resolution” ballots, or ballots that could not be machine counted, will also get a closer look in Mondays recount..

Tom Lutey at The Billings Gazette adds this:
The recount will be done by County Commissioners John Ostlund, Jim Reno, and District Court Clerk Carol Muessig.
Muessig is sitting in for Commissioner Bill Kennedy, who is unavailable that day.
Rutherford said Muessig was selected because like Kennedy, she’s a Democrat. The other two commissioners are Republicans.
