Thinking of actually shooting down a drone? National Journal has this:
Shooting down a drone, however, is illegal, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Here’s how the agency responded when a small town in Colorado made it legal to hunt drones: “A [drone] hit by gunfire could crash, causing damage to persons or property on the ground, or it could collide with other objects in the air. Shooting at an unmanned aircraft could result in criminal or civil liability, just as would firing at a manned airplane.”
Rosendale isn’t the first candidate to send a bullet at a chosen specter of big government. Obamacare and cap-and-trade have previously found themselves in candidates’ crosshairs.

Fox News: Montana GOP House candidate shoots down drone in campaign ad
Matt Rosendale, a state senator running for the U.S. House of Representatives, unveiled an ad Monday that depicts a standoff between him and a “government drone” that is “spying” on him. Spoiler alert, the drone loses.
The Wall Street Journal’s “Washington Wire” is also covering the ad.

Montana Republican Steve Daines is pointing to a bill he wrote that cleared the House last year and aims to greatly increase timber harvests on public lands. “When fringe environmentalists tried locking up our land and our natural resources, I took them on, passing legislation to increase timber production and create more than six thousand new Montana jobs,” the Senate hopeful says in the 60-second spot.
