It was 9 AM on Thursday morning- the opening game of the State AA high school basketball tournament in Butte, Montana. Then, officials realized- they didn’t have a pep band, a singer, or even a song on CD to do the national anthem.
So, in a time of panic, leave it to the brother of the Navy SEAL who killed Osama bin Laden to step up to the plate and literally SING the national anthem in front of the Butte Civic Center crowd. (I know he helped make Tim Montana and the Shrednecks famous through Butte radio…but I didn’t know Tommy could sing too!)
Our own Rocky Erickson was there. Listen in as he describes the moment that KXTL-Radio’s Tommy O’Neill, who was serving as the PA for the tournament, made sure Old Glory was given the respect she deserved at the state tournament:

Speaking of the O’Neill family…Tommy’s brother Rob O’Neill, the Navy SEAL who killed Osama bin Laden, is now a Fox News contributor, as Stars and Stripes reports:
Butte native Rob O’Neill, a retired Navy Seal who said he fired the shots that killed Osama bin Laden, has joined Fox News as a contributor.
“It’s incredibly rare to have someone in a television contributor role with his leadership experience and expertise at the fighting unit level,” network chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement Thursday. “His military insight will be a major asset to the network and we are honored to have him.”
