FBI Dumps Left-Wing SPLC as a Resource

More recently, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has tried to claim that “right-wing extremists” are running for the Montana Legislature as Democrats. (Earlier Montana media reports that the above-mentioned candidates are “Tea Party candidates” have already been dispelled) 

The SPLC is a group that has targeted faith-based organizations, claiming that their religious beliefs amount to hate speech.  Now, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has apparently dumped the SPLC as a resource.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which has labeled several Washington, D.C.-based family organizations as “hate groups” for favoring traditional marriage, has been dumped as a “resource” on the FBI’s Hate Crime Web page, a significant rejection of the influential legal group.
 
The Web page scrubbing, which also included eliminating the Anti-Defamation League, was not announced and came in the last month after 15 family groups pressed Attorney General Eric Holder and FBI Director James Comey to stop endorsing a group — SPLC — that inspired a recent case of domestic terrorism at the Family Research Council.

In August 2012, a Washington area man guided by the SPLC’s “hate map” that cited FRC, entered the group’s headquarters and shot a security guard. The guard survived and the shooter, a volunteer with a gay group, pleaded guilty to domestic terrorism.

The Daily Caller adds:

For its part, FRC approves of the FBI’s move to sever ties with the unrepentant SPLC.
 
“Any association between the federal government and an entity that is connected in federal court to domestic terrorism should be a no-brainer; it just shouldn’t happen,” said FRC’s executive vice president, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Jerry Boykin in a statement provided to TheDC. ”Last year the U.S. Secretary of the Army described the Southern Poverty Law Center’s hate labeling of Christian groups as ’inaccurate, objectionable, and otherwise inconsistent with current Army policy.’ We agree. We once again call on the SPLC to stop demonizing pro-family organizations simply because we stand for different values.”

Now that the FBI has dumped the SPLC as a resource, will the Montana media do the same?
