Wyoming Republican US Senator John Barrasso and Montana Republican Congressman Denny Rehberg have the honors of making a liberal magazine’s “Worst Members of Congress You’ve Never Heard Of” list.
The Nation, which just recently posted a scathing critique of University of Montana alum and Obama Campaign Manager Jim Messina, posted their full list here.
Here’s what they had to say about Rehberg:
He thinks that his state’s “coal and natural gas reserves stretch for hundreds of years into the future.” He calls efforts to protect the survival of Yellowstone’s gray wolves “extremist.”
You gotta give whatever high-speed wrote this top 10 a high five. The author clearly doesn’t have a clue about Western politics. Montana is considered the Saudi Arabia of coal (and wind). And even Democrats are jumping over themselves to delist the gray wolf from the Endangered Species List.
But wait, there’s more. Apparently The Nation thinks we should harm our economy because international law tells us we need to pass new regulations. Here’s what they wrote about Senator, and doctor, John Barrasso (R-WY):
He’s also the mastermind behind the most draconian of energy bills, the “Defending America’s Affordable Energy and Jobs Act,” which would totally bar the EPA and the federal government from enforcing reductions in CO2 emissions. Never mind that these regulatory powers already exist as statutory rights granted under existing environmental law and are actually required by international law.
“These regulations are required by international law.” Yeah, that’ll go over real well back here in Montana and Wyoming.
